From Santa to singing Elvis look-alikes, boats large and small parade down our Waterway. Find a spot to watch or decorate a boat to participate.

From Little River to North Myrtle Beach, the Christmas holiday is kicked off with the Intracoastal Christmas Regatta the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It begins at 5 pm and concludes at 7 pm at the Dock Holiday Marina.

Toys are collected to help local children, and pet items are collected for the Humane Society.

Plenty to do on every fall weekend throughout South Carolina and neighboring North Carolina. The Little River Shrimp and Jazz Fest is Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10. We love the historic waterfront in beautiful Little River, and this festival is a big party especially for shrimp lovers. Plenty of other festival food and beverage are offered, so you don’t have to really eat shrimp if it’s not your favorite. Look at some of the variety we found last year.

Also, some really delicious items were offered by Kim and Chef Eric Masson from Brentwood Restaurant.

Live music is underway all day, so plan to stay around for the fun and do some browsing with the arts and crafts vendors. The eclectic shops along the way always catch my eye too! Say hi if you see us!

Rickey Godfrey

Here’s your chance to experience Nashville blues guitarist Rickey Godfrey working his Telecaster. He will appear in coastal North and South Carolina during Labor Day weekend. See him at Key West Crazy in Little River, SC, Sept. 2. This venue directly on the Intracoastal Waterway offers a restaurant and full bar and plenty of local character.

Godfrey will be at the Rusty Nail in Wilmington, NC Sept. 3. This is home to the Cape Fear Blues Society and its weekly blues jams.

He will be in Myrtle Beach Sept. 4 at the recently opened club Cool Daddy’s with the iconic blues guitarist Michael “Pops” Stallings, drummer Phil Salone and Jimi Brown on bass.

Godfrey, who has been blind since birth, began studying classical piano and voice at an early age. He had his first guitar by the time he was 13. Performing throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe, he has worked with artists such as Rufus Thomas, Sam Moore, Billy Preston and Junior Walker. He has been nominated by the Music City Blues Society for both Guitarist and Keyboard Player of the Year. Last year Rickey played the Montreal Jazz Festival with the Chocolate Thunder band.

The versatile vocalist and musician is well-known throughout the Carolinas for the hit songs “Can’t Change My Heart,” “No One Loves You Better Than Me,” “Whatever It Takes” and “If Ten’ll Kill Me, You Can Give Me Nine.”
